Trina (T.) Trammell, NJ native, Wife, Mother, and the Author of, Sonflower; Joy Comes in the Morning, Exhale; the Art of Letting Go, and 21 Day Confirmation Quest, has joined the creative world of self-help novels and journaling. She has turned her experience into a guide to bring others to a happy place of awakening within their “Self.” Although the innovating author leads by example and experiences some difficult times she has faced and overcome, she is also full of light, love, and life. She enjoys the art of writing & creating, nature, music, family, and having a good time. If life has taught her nothing else, it taught her that...” Life is only as serious as we make it!”
Hazel took her place on stage and grabbed the microphone. “Do you need my pianist?” Lucy asked. Hazel stood in silence for a brief moment before belting out; You’ll Lose a Good Thing, by Barbara Lynn. She locked eyes with Lucy, claiming her spot in the lounge. She sang from the depths of her past, attempting to reject despair. Lucy was intrigued, and that is not likely to happen with that spitfire of a madam. The security guard, James, and the bartender, Jackie, came from their workstations to cheer Hazel on. The musician shuffled to the piano and began to play in sync with her vocals. Hazel swayed her hips to the sound of his tunes. She fell deeply into her heart's message as she took control of the song forgetting that she was auditioning. Lucy stood from her seat, interrupting. “I’ve heard enough, I’ve heard enough. Come over here and have a seat with me. Jackie, get yo’ ass to work and grab us a drink.” Jackie, now mumbling things she wouldn’t dare say to Lucy’s face, prepared a glass of Clan MacGregor on the rocks for the two ladies. Well, one she thought of as a lady; the other, she thought of as Trenton’s most wanted, and not in a good way. “Cheers. Lucy raised her glass and gestured for Hazel to do the same. I think we have found our new songstress. Now I will need you on Friday and Saturday nights. Can you do that?” Hazel pulled her glass away. “I can be here two weekends a month and one night during the weekday at this pay rate.” Hazel slid an already written salary amount to Lucy on a neatly folded piece of paper that smelled of her perfume. “Huh, you’re coming to negotiate. You’re a smart girl.” Lucy tapped her fingers on the table. She looked up at Hazel attempting to intimidate her. Hazel squinted back at Lucy, and the expression on her face gestured, she was not negotiating.
“I like you. I like your style. There’s something mysterious behind this southern bell you’re putting on for me; ain’t it?” asked Lucy.
“Listen up; we are a family here. We protect each other, and the plan is to have one hell of a successful, profiting night after another. My doors don’t open unless we are giving the city a good time and making big money while doing it! I expect you to come prepared to put on a show the way you just did. Leave your personal shit at home, you hear me? I know you pretty southern gals come with mess. Understand, Lucy’s Lounge is the place to be in the city of Trenton; um hmm, that’s right.”
“So, do you agree to my terms?” Hazel asked. Lucy raised her glass again, and Hazel did the same. “Cheers.” The two of them took a swallow. Hazel’s face balled up. “What is this?” She gasped. “It’s a good ol’ whisky. You’ll get used to it.” Lucy chuckled
